Overview

The Squires Group has a contract opportunity for an experienced SolarWinds Engineer to support a US Homeland Security program. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering, optimizing, configuring and monitoring the performance of the system using SolarWinds. This Federal project is located in Annapolis Junction, MD, and contains some remote work options. Feel good about your work, as your team looks to ensure the safety of flights in the United States with passenger screening. 

 

Per our Federal Government contract, candidates must be US Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Configure SolarWinds to meet the specific needs of the system to successfully monitor the performance and availability
  • Create SolarWinds console roles and reviews, and create and install custom modules as needed
  • Monitor existing applications/systems and infrastructure, including creating custom reports on SolarWinds monitoring reports
  • Research and monitor current end-user response times as well as application and system performance and availability
  • Work directly with the application and infrastructure teams to set up performance monitoring for the applications, databases, network and Cloud
  • Determine problems within SolarWinds systems, provide solutions for issue resolution.
  • Work to improve monitoring capabilities through seeking customer feedback; Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement strategies for improving network and system performance using SolarWinds.
  • Train and support other users on how to use SolarWinds and provide application support broadly across multiple teams

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 6+ years hands on experience with SolarWinds
  • 5+ years of experience in SolarWinds monitoring
  • 5+ years of experience on multiple OS platforms
  • Experience with monitoring multiple environments and VMware virtualization technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft, UNIX, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux server OS
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical information and requirements effectively to leadership and team members
  • Per our Federal Government contract, candidates must be US Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing standard operating procedures and project documentation
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN network infrastructure technologies
  • Knowledge of automation using tools such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, etc
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Knowledge of server virtualization technologies, such as VMware
  • Experience in Agile delivery

Compensation

Competitive salary range of $90K-$150K, based on experience, qualifications, location, licensure and certifications.  The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
