Overview

Our client, a mission-driven organization in the information and technology sector, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team. This position is 100% onsite at their office in Anne Arundel County. As a key member of the team, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and timekeeping across multiple states and locations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle processing of semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state workforce of over 150 employees

  • Accurately calculate wages, bonuses, overtime, vacation, and holiday pay in compliance with state and local labor laws

  • Oversee timesheet submissions, ensuring timely and accurate entry from all departments

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, resolving discrepancies and collaborating closely with Accounting and HR teams

  • Perform regular audits of payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • Prepare payroll reports and documentation for review by the Senior Accountant

  • Monitor and maintain up-to-date knowledge of wage laws and regulatory changes across multiple states and jurisdictions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, or a related field

  • Minimum of three years of payroll experience, with a strong focus on multi-state payroll processing

  • Government contracting payroll experience is required, including knowledge of compliance and reporting standards

  • Proficiency in payroll systems; experience with iSolved is highly preferred

  • Familiarity with Unanet or similar timekeeping platforms is a strong plus

  • Solid understanding of federal tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and labor legislation

  • Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management capabilities

  • FPC or CPP certification preferred

  • Experience with iSolved, Unanet, or similar platform preferred
