Overview

Our client is one of the leading utility companies in the Washington, DC Metro area. They have a direct hire need for an OT Cyber Operations Senior Specialist to join their team in Springfield, VA. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly support and mature operational technology (OT) security programs across a complex enterprise environment. This opportunity offers the chance to work with advanced cyber tools and frameworks in a high-impact industry.  There may be up to 10% travel to Canada with this position.

 

Per our client contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of OT cybersecurity programs that align with business and operational objectives.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, managed security service providers, and third-party contractors to deliver effective OT security practices.
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical planning to protect infrastructure and ensure cyber resilience.
  • Deliver advanced cyber monitoring and incident response for OT networks, including 24x7 threat detection, analytics, and control implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian cybersecurity regulations and directives, including TSA Security Directives.
  • Lead the adoption of OT security best practices aligned with industry standards such as NIST and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Collaborate across operational teams to understand risk to critical applications and drive remediation.
  • Influence and align cybersecurity activities with broader enterprise strategy and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of combined experience in cybersecurity, engineering, and/or IT, ideally with exposure to OT environments.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, TSA).
  • Strong understanding of IT/OT infrastructure, including networks, hardware, cloud/on-prem environments, and security controls.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Microsoft Sentinel and Nozomi is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with gas or electric utilities or similar industrial sectors is ideal.
  • Proven experience leading complex enterprise incident response efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to convey complex information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party security vendors and service providers.
  • Flexibility to support off-hours incident response as needed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% across U.S. and Canada.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary range of $120K-$130K, based on experience, qualifications, and certifications.  The salary range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
