Overview

Our client is an award winning global integrator supporting a major branch of our Armed Forces.  They have an immediate need for a Strategic Communications Consultant to work a hybrid schedule at the Pentagon. In this role, you will support develop and execute strategic, risk-based communication initiatives including messaging frameworks, executive content, presentation design, and campaign management for government and industry leadership audiences.

 

Per our Federal Government Contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic messaging frameworks – Create comprehensive, risk-based messaging architectures to guide all communication efforts.

  • Craft executive briefs, speeches, and talking points – Write and edit clear, concise content tailored for senior leadership and industry audiences.

  • Design and execute communication plans – Plan and implement internal and external campaigns aligned with key milestones and industry events.

  • Produce “TED Talk”-style PowerPoint presentations – Design and develop impactful, risk-based slide decks for leadership and industry forums, incorporating calls to action, interactive elements, and emotional appeal.

  • Review and refine past presentations – Evaluate existing materials to identify gaps and create fresh, engaging, and thought-provoking content.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strategic Communications Leadership – 5+ years directing corporate messaging and brand communication initiatives.

  • Executive Briefing & Speechwriting – 5+ years crafting briefs, speeches, and talking points for senior leadership audiences.

  • Messaging Framework Development – 5+ years developing cohesive, risk-informed messaging architectures.

  • Communication Planning – 5+ years designing and executing internal and external campaigns aligned with executive milestones and industry events.

  • Presentation Design – 5+ years creating “TED Talk”-style and impact-driven PowerPoint presentations for executives and conferences.

  • Industry Engagement – 5+ years collaborating with cross-sector partners, professional associations, and leadership forums.

  • Stakeholder Coordination – 5+ years managing timelines, deliverables, and collaboration across functional teams.

  • Storytelling & Creative Writing – 5+ years using narrative techniques, humor, and emotional appeal to inspire and drive action.

  • Review & Adaptation – 4+ years analyzing existing materials to identify gaps and develop innovative content formats.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management – 5+ years partnering with internal teams and external organizations to achieve strategic communication goals.

Preferred Skills: 

  • Organizational Acumen – 3+ years navigating complex corporate structures, culture, policy, and operational processes.

  • Adobe Creative Suite & Multimedia – 3+ years creating graphics, videos, and interactive digital content.

  • Digital & Social Media Strategy – 3+ years leveraging online platforms to enhance executive visibility and engagement.

  • Crisis & Issues Communications – 3+ years managing rapid-response messaging and reputation management under pressure.

  • Data-Driven Insights – 3+ years using analytics to measure, report, and improve communication effectiveness.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – 3+ years building and maintaining relationships with industry partners and media outlets.

  • Event Production Support – 2+ years coordinating logistics and developing content for leadership and industry events.

  • Change Management Communications – 2+ years developing and delivering messaging to support organizational transformation initiatives.

Compensation:

  • W2 Hourly rate: $70 - $78. Pay rates are based on experience, qualifications, location, and certifications, and are subject to change at any time.
  • Benefits vary by compensation type and may include paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, and additional optional benefits.
