Overview

Our client is a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering women, families, and the community. They have an immediate opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all financial operations of the organization. This role requires a self-directed, highly accountable professional who can manage a multi-grant, multi-funding stream budget environment, deliver actionable financial insights, and foster collaborative relationships across the leadership team. This role is primarily onsite in Annapolis, MD, with remote Fridays.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage the annual budget ($5M current budget, debt-free)
  • Track expenditures and allocations across 22 grant funding streams using specific charge codes
  • Deliver monthly financial reports and projections, highlighting trends and recommendations to leadership and the Board
  • Support the CEO and COO with strategic financial planning and insight
  • Collaborate with program directors on financial planning

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Grant Management: Allocate grants, track spending against grant-specific resources, and provide accurate, actionable reporting
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present monthly financial statements, insights, and forecasts
  • Budgeting: Develop and maintain accurate annual budgets, monitor performance, and identify opportunities to optimize resources
  • Leadership: Participate as a key member of the Senior Leadership team, providing financial guidance and contributing to strategic decisions
  • Collaboration & Communication: Build strong working relationships with leadership and board members; communicate clearly, directly, and effectively
  • Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and internal policies; own mistakes, learn from them, and implement improvements

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing multi-grant funding streams and allocating resources effectively
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting experience
  • Ability to synthesize financial data and deliver actionable insights to leadership
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills; able to work closely with senior leadership and program directors
  • Self-directed, accountable, and mature; able to hit the ground running
  • Familiarity with nonprofit finance, grants, and funding structures is highly desirable

Salary range of $125K-$145K, based on experience and qualifications.  The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
