Overview

We have an urgent opportunity for an experienced Workday Financials Senior Consultant to support a west-coast-based non-profit organization on a short-term, high-impact assessment engagement. This role is ideal for a senior-level consultant who brings strong point of view, deep Workday Financials expertise, and the ability to translate business needs into practical system recommendations.

Project Context

The organization implemented Workday approximately 18 months ago and operates with a large, complex budget and significant grants funding. While mission-driven, the organization functions much like a commercial enterprise. Leadership recognizes that Workday is not being fully leveraged and is highly motivated to improve system utilization and effectiveness.

Role Overview

The consultant will partner closely with senior leadership and a small project team to evaluate the organization’s current Workday Financials implementation against leading practices and business-specific requirements. This engagement will play a critical role in determining whether the organization can remediate its current system efficiently or should pursue a broader re-implementation strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an end-to-end assessment of the current Workday Financials implementation
  • Review licensed Workday SKUs and evaluate alignment to actual business needs
  • Assess system design, including Foundation Data Model (FDM) and overall configuration
  • Identify gaps between leading practices and current-state usage
  • Define and prioritize remediation or re-implementation scope, phasing, and timelines
  • Develop a clear roadmap outlining architectural and functional improvements
  • Facilitate working sessions with stakeholders and lead productive, focused discussions
  • Provide direct, actionable recommendations and challenge assumptions when appropriate

Qualifications

  • Multiple Workday Financials implementation engagements
  • Strong expertise with Workday Foundation Data Model (FDM)
  • Ability to assess complex financial configurations and reporting structures
  • Experience guiding clients through ERP optimization decisions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak in business terms—not just “Workday”
  • Proven ability to drive agendas, ask insightful questions, and lead discussions confidently

Preferred Experience

  • Non-profit or grants-heavy financial environments
  • Accounting background or prior ERP client-side experience
  • Exposure to financial reporting, allocations, integrations, and reconciliations

Consultant Profile (Fit Factors)

  • Quick learner with a strong point of view
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and legacy processes
  • Detail-oriented yet able to operate at a strategic level
  • Confident facilitator who can influence senior stakeholders
  • Pragmatic, decisive, and outcome-focused

Compensation and Benefits

  • W2 Hourly rate: $105 - $147. Pay rates are based on experience, qualifications, and location, and are subject to change at any time.
  • Benefits vary by compensation type and may include paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, and additional optional benefits.
