Overview

Our client has an immediate need for an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to support enterprise-wide safety strategy, core program development, and operational risk management within a utility or critical infrastructure environment. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and field teams, helping advance the safety roadmap, strengthen safety management systems, and drive consistent implementation across the organization.

 

This role requires four (4) days onsite in Springfield, VA.  Per our client contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of the safety roadmap by translating strategic priorities into practical, scalable safety programs.
  • Develop and enhance foundational safety elements, including policies, procedures, hazard identification, job safety analysis (JSA), and high-risk work controls.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory and industry standards (OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and utility safety requirements).
  • Provide targeted field engagement to validate program effectiveness and support operational alignment.
  • Lead or support incident investigations using root-cause methodologies and ensure corrective actions address systemic gaps.
  • Support regulatory compliance activities, audits, contractor safety oversight, and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of safety management systems, hazard recognition, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
  • Proven experience improving safety programs in complex, high-risk operational environments.
  • Ability to influence leaders and teams through collaboration and technical expertise.
  • 5–10 years of safety experience in utilities, energy, critical infrastructure, or industrial operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent industry, military, or public safety experience.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Safety certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or CUSP.
  • Emergency management or incident investigation certifications.
  • Experience with safety management systems, incident tracking tools, and reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet).

  • W2 Hourly rate: $62 - $67. Pay rates are based on experience, qualifications, and location, and are subject to change at any time.
