Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing federal contractor. They are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer. In this role you will configure, administer, automate, and maintain enterprise COTS applications, with a primary focus on the Atlassian Data Center Suite, while supporting accessibility, security, documentation, integrations, and user operations within a SAFe Agile environment.

 

This role is remote, with occasional required travel to the DMV if a non-local candidate, or occasional onsite needs if a DMV local candidate. Per our client contract, Active Secret Clearance is required. 

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise-grade COTS applications, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Crowd, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
  • Conduct Section 508 compliance testing for new features and modifications to ensure accessibility standards are met.
  • Maintain FISMA-related documentation and support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities by developing clear, compliant technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain user support and reference guides for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting, plugin installation, application updates, and operational support for COTS tools.
  • Query and maintain PostgreSQL-based application databases to support backend operations and configuration changes.
  • Customize Jira workflows, permissions, issue types, screens, and fields to align with enterprise business processes.
  • Automate and enhance Jira and Confluence functionality using Groovy, Python, or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Design and implement enterprise-wide configuration standards for Atlassian applications to promote consistency across project structures, integrations, and permissions.
  • Integrate COTS applications with other enterprise platforms using REST APIs and Atlassian native APIs to create seamless user workflows.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Grooming.
  • Train users on Atlassian best practices, resolve support requests, and support the adoption of new workflows and plugins.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps or application administration, including direct experience supporting Atlassian Data Center products and other COTS applications.
  • Strong experience administering Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Crowd, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
  • Experience conducting Section 508 compliance testing for application features and modifications.
  • Experience maintaining FISMA-related documentation and contributing to Authority to Operate (ATO) activities.
  • Experience developing technical documentation and user support/reference guides for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, installing plugins, performing application updates, and providing operational support for COTS tools.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL-based application databases, including querying and maintaining databases for backend operations and configuration changes.
  • Experience customizing Jira workflows, permissions, issue types, screens, and fields based on enterprise business requirements.
  • Experience using Groovy, Python, or equivalent scripting languages to automate and extend Jira and Confluence functionality.
  • Experience establishing enterprise configuration standards for Atlassian applications, including project structures, integrations, and permissions.
  • Experience integrating COTS applications with enterprise platforms using REST APIs and Atlassian native APIs.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and participating in PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Grooming.
  • Strong user training, troubleshooting, and support skills, with the ability to promote adoption of new workflows and plugins.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.

Compensation:

  • Salary up to $130,000. Pay rates are based on experience, qualifications, location, and certifications, and are subject to change at any time.
