Overview

The Squires Group is seeking a Physical Security Specialist to support a leading utility organization's Safety, Security & Emergency Management team in Springfield, Virginia. This onsite contract opportunity is ideal for an early-career security professional looking to build experience in physical security operations, risk assessment, incident management, and security technology. The selected candidate will play a key role in helping protect employees, critical infrastructure, facilities, and company assets while supporting initiatives that strengthen the organization's overall security posture.

 

Per our client contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct security vulnerability assessments and facility security inspections.
  • Identify security risks and develop recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Support investigations related to unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other security incidents.
  • Administer and support access control, badge management, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems.
  • Assist with security technology upgrades and physical security improvement projects.
  • Maintain security records, reports, assessments, and asset inventories.
  • Prepare presentations, dashboards, and reports for management.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, Engineering, IT, Emergency Management, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Security Management, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, military, emergency management, investigations, facilities security, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance systems, and physical security principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Compensation

  • The compensation for this role as a consultant starts at $25/hour, based on experience and qualifications. This rate is subject to change.
